Playing and practising
My music
My music is the start page. It lists, for each of your ensembles:
- what you play there (You play: e.g. “Trumpet 2”),
- the ensemble’s programmes – concerts or set lists – with your parts in playing order,
- all works of the ensemble with your parts.
If you have borrowed printed music from the archive, it is listed at the top with the date to return it by.
Tap a part to open it. Nothing there yet? Your leader has not given the ensemble any works, or has not yet said which instrument you play – ask them.
Reading in the viewer
The viewer shows the part full screen; the screen stays on while it is open.
| To | Do |
|---|---|
| turn forward | tap the right third, swipe left, or press →, Page Down, Space or Enter |
| turn back | tap the left third, swipe right, or press ←, Page Up |
| show the controls | tap the middle (they hide again after a few seconds) |
| close | Close (×) at the top |
Page turners: Bluetooth pedals that send arrow keys, Page Up/Down or Space work as they are.
Page layout (in the controls):
- 1 page – one page at a time.
- Half turns – the top half already shows the next page while the bottom half still shows the end of the current one; a dashed line marks the seam. You keep reading without a jump.
- 2 pages – two pages side by side; the default on wide screens in landscape.
The layout is remembered per device. Turning past the last page opens the next piece – of the programme you came from, or of the ensemble – and turning back before the first page opens the previous one at its end.
Offline
Switch on Available offline for an ensemble on My music. All your parts of that ensemble are then stored on the device; each time you open notenwart with a connection, new and changed parts are fetched and parts you no longer have are removed. Without a connection, My music and the viewer work from the stored copies.
The device forgets them when you sign out. Recordings and shared markings need a connection.
Writing in your part
Annotate in the viewer opens the tools: pen (three colours), highlighter, eraser and undo; Done closes them. You write on whole pages (not while a half turn is shown). Your markings are yours alone: saved on the device at once and on the server shortly after, also when you were offline. On another device you see the same markings; if you write on two devices at once, the later one counts.
The PDF itself never changes – markings lie on top of it.
Markings of your leaders: when a leader marks a part for the whole ensemble (bowings, breaths, cuts …), you see these markings beneath your own. You cannot change them; Leaders’ markings in the viewer hides or shows them.
Printing
Print / PDF in the viewer opens a copy of the part with your markings – and the leaders’, when they are shown – drawn in. Print it or save it as a PDF.
Practising with recordings
Recordings belong to a work: full recordings of the whole piece, and practice recordings of a single part or voice (for example the alto part of a choir piece). They can be recorded or generated, for example from MIDI.
When a work has recordings, the viewer shows a player bar beneath the music; your own part’s practice recordings come first. You can
- choose the recording,
- play and pause, jump 5 seconds back or ahead, move to any position,
- play slower or faster (0.5× to 1.25×) – the pitch stays the same,
- repeat a passage: A–B sets the start, pressing again sets the end, once more stops repeating.
