notenwart knows four roles. Everyone starts with Getting started; the other pages build on each other – a leader can do everything a player can, the library everything a leader can, and admins everything.
| Role | Does | Page |
|---|---|---|
| Member (pupil, player, singer) | sees and plays their own parts, practises with recordings, writes in their parts | Playing and practising |
| Leader (teacher, conductor) | looks after the ensembles they lead: players, works, programmes, guest links, shared markings | Leading an ensemble |
| Librarian | keeps the library: works, PDFs, parts, imports, instruments, the paper archive | Looking after the library |
| Admin | sets up the organisation, adds people, keeps an eye on the system | Administration |
The role belongs to the person; leading belongs to an ensemble. A teacher with the role leader leads only the ensembles an admin or librarian has made them lead.
Who sees which part: a member sees a part when one of their ensembles has the work and they play that part’s instrument there – “Trumpet” without a number means every trumpet part, “Trumpet 2” just the second. A part without an instrument (the full score) is for the leaders. Leaders can give single members single extra parts.
